As the World Cup gets to the Round of 16, MLS starts to get back into a full schedule. In week 17 we saw some good decisions, especially in Kansas City, we also saw double offside situations that make up this week's What Should You Do question.
NO WORK RATE BREAK FOR THE SUMMER
Not much needs to be said about this short video. The work rate is just not good enough. But don't think it is not you. It can happen when you get too comfortable and the number of games start to pile up. Don't let yourself fall into this trap. Every game needs your full work rate, no matter the heat or the pace of the game.
WHAT SHOULD YOU DO? - IS THIS OFFSIDE?
Some things come in pairs...like the Anderson and Mariscal brothers. This week we had two similar incidents of interfering with an opponent and more specifically possibly interfering with the goalkeeper, you'll see they look very much alike. In both cases no flag was raised, but the VAR recommended a review. In both cases the on field decision was retained. We want to know if this incident is interfering with an opponent. Ignore what the VAR did. Simply put, after seeing this play, would you raise your flag?
WINNER - CALL OF THE WEEK #16 - CJ MORGANTE I
CALL OF THE WEEK #17
There was some very positive action during Week 17 and we highlight three here. Peter Manikowski in Real Salt Lake keeps his concentration on the rebound, having taken a mental picture of the attacker position on the shot. Brian Dunn does double duty in Kansas City, and it is hard to decide which decision is better. ARs know that the offside situation right in front of you can be very hard with the ball at a distance as it is in Dunn I. A double offside situation, both very tight results in a goal in Dunn II.
